Area of Operation: Academic Children's Hospital

Small hearts need great care! We are a small hospital in the big world, and it is precisely in the small that our greatness lies. Here, all the expertise a sick child may need is available, along with good collaboration, respect, and care. We offer a really good introduction for newcomers and many interesting opportunities for development. There is also unexpectedly much joy in what can sometimes be very difficult. We take care of the children and their families, and we take care of each other – because we know we do a much better job together!

Our Operations

The Academic Children's Hospital is the small hospital in the big, with four inpatient wards and a large outpatient operation. We have high competence in many medical specialties. Within the section for specialized pediatrics, there are ten specialist clinics responsible for children with allergies, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, endocrinology, gastroenterology, cardiology, nephrology, obesity, and rheumatology. The focus of the operations is on children and adolescents in need of specialized and highly specialized care.

The pediatric cardiology clinic is part of the Children's Heart Center Stockholm-Uppsala, which jointly has Sweden's largest pediatric cardiology outpatient operations. In your role as a nurse, you will be part of a broad collaboration with the clinic in Stockholm, which includes regular telemedicine contacts and recurring meetings, where we strive for a uniform approach to the care of the heart-sick children at our different units. We are also active in research and development, which is an obvious part of the work. We have recently been awarded National Highly Specialized Care (NHV) in the area of vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Your Mission

At our clinic, you will be involved in managing children with congenital heart defects, arrhythmias, and cardiomyopathies. The position also includes being a contact nurse in fetal cardiology, which means providing information and support to expectant parents after a fetal cardiology diagnosis of heart disease.

At the clinic, the nurse's role in the team around the patients is central, and the work is varied. In addition to traditional outpatient work, your tasks will include independently conducting nursing visits, where you strongly contribute to a structured follow-up of the children from various perspectives such as the disease's progression, growth, and development. Teaching is also part of the nurse's duties, which can range from instructing in patient situations to holding training sessions for staff.

Since we work within a section with many narrow specialty areas, collaboration between the different parts of the section is very important.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with children and adolescents. You have good collaborative skills, enjoy working in a team, and want to help develop our operations within pediatric cardiology.

You are a licensed nurse, and we prefer that you have specialized training in health and medical care for children and adolescents. Experience in pediatric or cardiac care and coordination of various care interventions for patients is an advantage.

Your Competence

As a person, you are independent and secure in your role as a nurse. You find it easy to build good relationships with both children and adults. You see it as a given to contribute to quality development and work with a clear patient focus. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

We Offer

A permanent position at 80%-100% working hours, starting as soon as possible or by agreement. With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/)).
